Why Better Within Exists

Somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn't actually looking for a prettier house—I was looking for a more meaningful life.

There was a time when I loved collecting things. Every new decoration, every little treasure, every project felt like it would somehow make our house feel more complete.

But over time, I began to notice something. The things I owned weren't adding peace. They were adding responsibility—more to dust, more to organize, more to maintain and, eventually, more to store.

And it wasn't just my home that felt crowded. My calendar was too.

I started thinking more about what I was making room for, both in my home and in my life. So much of what filled my house and my days was temporary. None of it was coming with me into eternity.

That realization quietly changed the way I looked at almost everything.

I still love beautiful spaces. I still love decorating, rearranging a room and finding something that makes a corner of our home feel just right. I haven't suddenly become a minimalist, and I don't particularly want to. 😂

I just started asking different questions.

Does this serve a purpose? Does it make our home more welcoming? Does it help us gather? Is it something we genuinely enjoy? Does it make life easier, warmer or more useful?

And sometimes the answer is simply, I love it.

I think that's allowed too.

What changed wasn't my love for home. It was the idea that getting the house “right” would somehow make life feel right.

That's a big part of why Better Within exists.

I want a living room where people stay longer than they planned. A kitchen that gets used and a table people actually gather around. I want bedrooms that feel restful, outdoor spaces where friends can pull up another chair, and enough organization that we're not constantly fighting all the stuff we already own.

I want to take care of what we've been given without letting what we've been given take over our lives.

And I still want it to be beautiful.

Because I don't think beauty and purpose have to compete.

Home is more than a place. It's a life we're building on purpose.

And that's what Better Within is really about.
